Eczema On Hands - Hand eczema

Eczema On Hands - "dermatitis" or "eczema" can be due to many causes. In general it can be attributed to two causes: a contact rash produced by a foreign agent or a reaction of the skin of domestic origin.

Eczema On Hands

The eruptions of the hands are very common. Many people start with dry, chapped, hands that then begin to show stains reddish, scaly or swollen. There are many agents that can irritate the skin. Some of them are over exposure to water, dry air, soaps, detergents, solvents, cleaning agents, chemicals, gloves rubber, etc. Once the skin reddens and dry, even the things more harmless such as water can irritate the eruption, making it worse. It is very important to talk with your dermatologist and try to find the substance of your daily routine that may be causing or contributing to the problem. Often your skin will improve by changing product or avoiding a component completely.

The tendency to introduce this type of dermatitis or eczema of the hands in general contact is hereditary. They tend to be people with atopic skin and a clinical history of inhalant allergy (pollen, etc), food or contact (nickel, etc.).

Your skin may become red and itchy indicating an allergy to contact with many substances that do not usually affect the skin of others.

The dermatologist will work with you to discover and identify the possible causes of the eruption of the hands. Is it irritation?, is it allergy? As a detective, they will be many questions about their history of eruptions, if had any history of allergy or asthma or other problems. You will also want to know creams or lotions that you used for your skin, if you use gloves rubber, and that sort of thing are their hands during the day. The dermatologist will examine your hands, feet and the rest of your skin to determine that it is what is causing the rash.

Dermatologist can ask complementary for diagnosis, analysis and cultivation tests if sobreaƱadida infection, and if the dermatologist suspected that eczema may be due to an allergy to some external agent, allergic contact (patch) testing.

Once the dermatologist diagnosed the process, shall advertise the treatment: if it is necessary, because otherwise there is infection, use antibiotic (oral or topical); topical corticosteroid, antihistamine if there is pruritus (itching), and if it is confirmed that the origin is contact (by allergy or irritation), avoid contact with the causative agent.

If using water for washing, after rinse hands, dry them always meticulously, without forgetting the spaces between the fingers.

2. whenever possible, avoid direct contact with detergents and other powerful cleaning agents.

3. do not leave your skin to come into contact with solvents and stain removers, as alcohol, gasoline, the trichloroethylene, turpentine and diluents.

4. avoid direct contact with waxes and products for buffing or give shine to metals, footwear, flooring, car, furniture and windows.

5. If you use nail brush, be careful not to do it too often, and if in doubt consult your dermatologist.

6. do not peel or squeeze garlic, onions, oranges, lemons, Grapefruits, tomatoes or potatoes freshly picked with bare hands. Or clean fish or other moist foods.

9. when cold, protected by gloves.

10.-use gloves for washing dishes and clothes, they should be plastic and rubber, never because they frequently cause an allergy sobreaƱadida. Always use yarn or cotton and rubber gloves.

11. even after having cured your dermatitis, never wear rings while performing household chores or work.

Don't forget that the skin of the hands has a tendency to dry out, consult your dermatologist, who will advise you a cream of hands for the same care.
