Types Of Eczema - Eczema is a common skin disease characterized by itchy rashes and ignite and occur mainly in the faces of babies, on the inside of the elbow and behind the knee in children, adolescents and adults. Also commonly known as Atopic Dermatitis, eczema is caused by overactivity of immune system. Eczema is more common in babies and young children, but also occurs in adults. Up to 20% of children and 1 to 3% of adults are affected by Atopic Dermatitis, according to the American Academy of Dermatology (American Academy of Dermatology-AAD). To 60% or more of those who are affected, atopic dermatitis manifests itself in the first year of life. At least 80% have cutaneous inflammation before reaching 5 years of age. In rare cases, atopic dermatitis may arise for the first time during puberty or in adulthood. Affects men and women equally.

When people refer to eczema in General mean Atopic Dermatitis, which is the common way and chronic eczema. Other types of eczema are:

Contact Dermatitis


Contact dermatitis occurs when certain irritant substances come into contact with the skin and cause inflammation-in particular, burning, itching or redness. When the irritant is removed, the inflammation disappears.

Dermatitis, Dyshidrotic


, Dyshidrotic dermatitis affects the fingers and palms, and the soles of the feet, causing scaly rashes that itch and Peel constantly or stay red, with cracks and sore. Women have twice as many cases in comparison with men.

Nummular Dermatitis


Nummular dermatitis cause rounded stains and dry skin in the winter months. Can affect any part of the body, but usually appears at the bottom of the leg. It is more common in men.

Seborrhoeic Dermatitis


Seborrhoeic dermatitis causes reddish rashes that itch and Peel in different parts of the body, especially on the scalp, eyebrows, eyelids, on the sides of the nose and behind the ears.
